In Keys for Success children learn the proper ergonomics, posture, and technique needed for keyboarding. Classes emphasize the use of home row keys and proper finger placement on the keyboard through practice drills. Sessions incorporate meaningful typing practice to build accuracy and speed.
Keys for Success is designed for children entering third through sixth grade who have not yet learned touch typing, or from children who need to improve speed and accuracy. Small group instruction is led by a pediatric occupational therapist.
* Children must bring a laptop. Class fee covers the cost of a one year license for a web-based typing program, which allows the opportunity to individualize a child's specific typing needs.
